The City has a tri-annual bulk green waste verge collection. The next collection date is Monday 9 December.
There will be no limit to the quantity of loose green waste that can be presented in large piles for these collections (not in green waste bags). Loose green waste should be placed on verges on the evening before pick-up.
In line with the national B-cycle scheme, the City encourages residents to take dead batteries to the West Metro Recycling Centre, or participating Bunnings and Woolworths stores. The metals inside will be recovered and they'll be given a new life as tools, computer parts, or brand-new batteries.

You can drop off your old mobile phones at the West Metro Recycling Centre. Unwanted mobiles that are still in good condition will be donated to
Hello Initiative, a local charity supporting vulnerable young people. You can safely donate your old phone by ensuring it is unlocked, restoring factory settings, and removing any iCloud or Google accounts.
Older or broken mobile phones can still be recycled for free at the West Metro Recycling Centre.
The Verge Valet® trial ended in January 2024.
