FOGO in Subiaco
A new waste service called FOGO (Food Organics, Garden Organics) is now active in Subiaco for residents in single-unit dwellings.
FOGO is waste compiled of food scraps, garden vegetation, and lawn clippings.
Once collected, waste from FOGO bins is made into high-quality compost that can be distributed amongst parks and gardens. This process means less waste is sent to landfill, and less greenhouse gases are produced.
From May 2023, City of Subiaco residents will receive a 240-litre, lime green-lidded FOGO bin, and a small FOGO kitchen caddy with special compostable bin liners.
When will my FOGO bin be collected?
The City's bin collection days won't change, but the bins you put out for collection each week
will change:
- Your lime green-lidded FOGO bin will be collected weekly, and
- Your red-lidded general waste bin and yellow-lidded recycling bin will be collected fortnightly, on alternate weeks.
