FOGO in Subiaco
A new waste service called FOGO (Food Organics, Garden Organics) is now active in Subiaco for all residents
The FOGO system is due to be rolled out to businesses soon
FOGO is waste compiled of food scraps, garden vegetation, and lawn clippings.
Once collected, waste from FOGO bins is made into high-quality compost that can be used in parks and gardens, and is available for purchase by the bag from the West Metro Recycling Centre. This process means less waste is sent to landfill, and less greenhouse gases are produced.
If FOGO has been rolled out to your property, you should have recevied a 240-litre, lime green-lidded FOGO bin, and a small FOGO kitchen caddy with special compostable bin liners.
When will my FOGO bin be collected?
The City's bin collection days won't change, but the bins you put out for collection each week
will change:
- Your lime green-lidded FOGO bin will be collected weekly, and
- Your red-lidded general waste bin and yellow-lidded recycling bin will be collected fortnightly, on alternate weeks.
