How rates are calculated

Property rates fund a wide range of facilities, services, and operations in the City of Subiaco.

Council rates are calculated by working out the total cost of essential services and the operating requirements of the City, and setting a rate in the dollar to work out your individual annual rates.

A separate charge is levied for waste collection and disposal, including recycling, and swimming pool inspections.

State Government legislation, Swimming pools - Reg 53, Building Regulations 2012, requires the City to physically inspect all private swimming pools at least once every four years to ensure compliance with safety standards. Swimming pool inspections are charged at $58.45.

The City of Subiaco inspects about 25 per cent of pools in the City each year. The cost of this program is charged as an annualised fee in your rates each year.
