Cats

The City promotes responsible pet ownership, ensuring that all cats within the City of Subiaco are registered, microchipped and sterilised, in line with the Cat Act 2011.
Owners are encouraged to ensure that their cats are confined to their property and not wandering. This promotes better health outcomes for cats and prevents them from harming wildlife or causing a nuisance to neighbours.
A limit of three cats can be kept at a property.
Registration and Renewal
All cats aged six months and over must be registered with your local government.
The registration period runs annually from 1st November to 31st October. This means that both 1-year and 3-year animal registrations will expire on 31st October, regardless of the month in which your pet was registered.
For any new 1-year registrations made between 1st June and 31st October, the City offers a 50% discount on the registration fee. This is because the registration will expire on 31st October of the same year, regardless of the registration date.
To register your cat, please complete the online animal registration. If you need to transfer your cat's registration from another WA local council, you will need to complete this registration via the link.

To complete your renewal please provide your cat’s Animal ID number and the family name of the registered owner. This information can be found on your cat’s Certificate of Registration issued by the City or the renewal letter you have received.
