Each year, Homelessness Week aims to raise awareness of the impact of homeless and the solutions needed to end it.
This year, the week is taking place from Monday 7 to Sunday 13 August, and the City will be supporting the week through helping to open conversations around the challenges of homelessness in our community through a guest presentation at Subiaco Library.
Matt Vapor is the founder of Beneath the Surface, and has lived experience with homelessness. He uses his role at Beneath the Surface to educate, write and consultant on issues surrounding homelessness.
His presentation will speak to challenges but also opportunities to contribute to solutions around homelessness.
The event is on Monday 7 August from 6pm to 8pm.

The City is also helping those doing it tough through the introduction of a Community Pantry at Subiaco Library.
The ‘pantry’ is stocked with everyday essentials – such as rice, long-life milk, baby nappies, and tinned goods – to help those who might be struggling to make ends meet to have access to items they may find useful.
The initiative encourages community members to ‘take what you need, give what you can’ to ensure the pantry is always stocked.
During Homelessness Week, the City is encouraging community members to donate any goods or toiletries to the ‘pantry’ if they are able to.
