Wandana partnership celebration

The City has celebrated its ongoing support of the Wandana Community Association at an event to mark the signing of a new partnership agreement for 2022-2023.

The new agreement was celebrated at an event held at the association on Monday 22 May.

The agreement includes an investment of $7500 to support a range of initiatives including:

  • The Wandana Community Garden; through the purchase of new plants, gardening tools and a new sign
  • The delivery of a fortnightly morning tea for residents; providing opportunities for social connection and trust building with residents in the neighbourhood
  • A native garden project for Wandana residents; to help conserve biodiversity and encourage new stakeholder collaborations.
Mayor David McMullen said the new agreement is reflective of the importance of associations like Wandana to the diverse communities that make up the fabric of the City.

“The Wandana Community Association is to be congratulated for its ongoing work and commitment to providing spaces to learn, connect and flourish. This partnership, and the City's continuing support, will enhance and strengthen activities at Wandana.

“Through initiatives like the community and native gardens and the morning teas, people are able to gain connections, learn skills and nurture ongoing positive relationships.

“These projects have positive community impacts which extend beyond just Wandana, and the initiatives themselves.

"The partnership event was a fantastic way to celebrate our partnership and to meet a number of the Wandana community members."

The City has financially supported Wandana initiatives since 2019 through its Community Development Grants program.
