The City’s upgrade of the Seddon Street public realm is set to open this October, revealing a new pedestrian focussed space for the community that will encourage visitation and vibrancy.
The upgrade – delivered with support from Blackburne Property Group (Blackburne) – is the latest public realm upgrade to open after the City completed works at Postal Walk in August which were well received by residents, businesses and visitors.
Mayor David McMullen said this was a continuation of the City's investment in the public realm.
“The City is investing in shared public spaces, like Seddon Street and the newly opened Postal Walk, to continue to improve amenity and walkability of key areas and encourage visitation and community use,” he said.
“These upgrades are part of the ongoing renewal of some key nodes that will help generate momentum for our City.”
A once-off market event – presented by Blackburne in partnership with the City – will help celebrate the opening of the Seddon Street upgrade and launch Blackburne’s ONE Subiaco development which is on the site of the old Pavilion Markets.
It will showcase local artisans and businesses, alongside live music, food, crafts, and entertainment for the whole family from 10am until 3pm on Saturday 7 October.
Mayor David McMullen encouraged everyone to come along to the event and celebrate.
“The Pavilion Markets were loved by many and I’m looking forward to seeing how the modern businesses and residents of ONE Subiaco help contribute to a reimagining of this area’s identity, vibrancy and sense of community,” he said.
“The new Seddon Street precinct will be well suited to special events like the market launch event, as well as ongoing activation.”
