A pop-up museum, sewing for beginners, and a cheeky slice of cake are just some of the delights on offer at the City of Subiaco’s first Positive Ageing Expo this July.
The unique expo promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for over 55s and will showcase local service providers and activities with over 15 curated stallholders.
As well as fun activities for attendees to try or learn more about, there will also be practical help on hand to make life easier, including WA Seniors Cards being issued on the day, experts from Services Australia answering your tricky questions, and information sessions from Injury Matters.
Subiaco Men’s Shed, Onslow Park Tennis Club and Advocare will also be in attendance, alongside representatives from the City of Subiaco’s positive ageing offerings.
Mayor David McMullen said this expo was the first of its kind in the City of Subiaco.
“This is a really unique event that’s catered specifically for our community. It's all part of our broader initiatives that aim to help people age in place, meaningfully.
“It’s so important for us to support all members of our community in a way that’s accessible and enjoyable for them. We hope to see a lot of people at this expo to learn something new, meet likeminded people, or just get their questions answered by the experts.
“I encourage everyone – no matter your age – to come along if you think this could help you, a family member, a friend, or a neighbour.”
The City’s Positive Ageing Expo is taking place on Thursday 20 July from 10am to 2pm, and is a great opportunity for over 55s to connect and meet new people in the local community.
There will be a free shuttle bus operating to and from the venue between the Shenton Park Community Centre and Wandana housing on the day.
