The City of Subiaco has just been ranked the most liveable place in Australia in the country’s biggest social research survey – the 2023 Australian Liveability Census.
The survey, conducted by Place Score, engaged more than 25,000 people and pulled together data on what resident’s value in their community.
The City of Subiaco came out on top with residents rating the community at 81 on the liveability index; the national average was 67.
Shared themes that emerged from the survey include a well maintained, green neighbourhood with local shops and services within walking distance.
Major contributors to the liveability included access to neighbourhood amenity, connectivity, and elements of natural environment.
The results reflect the latest
Community Scorecard survey which the City of Subiaco conducts each year; this showed a 99 per cent positive rating for the City as place to live and industry highs in 17 different areas.
Mayor David McMullen said it was great the City topped the liveability survey, and he wasn’t necessarily surprised.
“The City has worked hard to make our neighbourhoods the best they can be, and deliver the best service and amenities to our community day in, day out.
“We have walkable well-maintained neighbourhoods, good roads and public transport, fantastic local shops and businesses, industry-leading amenities, and we really prioritise the environment and sustainability which we know our community value.
“I’ve lived in or around the area most of my life. It really is the best place to live and I’m glad to see this recognised on the national stage.
“As Mayor, it’s a privilege to be able to continue this work in, what’s now officially, the best place to live in Australia.”
