Subi Streets

Subi Streets is a City-wide initiative that will create a long-term blueprint for how every street and laneway in the City of Subiaco looks, feels, and functions.

The project, which was endorsed by Council in July 2024, will rethink the City’s streets and laneways; shifting the focus from vehicle use to more versatile community spaces.

Incorporating the people-centred Healthy Streets approach, the project will develop three key documents that will guide transport and public realm decisions for the next decade and beyond. These include:

  1. Movement and Place Framework

  2. Street Design Guidelines

  3. Implementation Framework

The project will rely heavily on community consultation, balancing the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, cars and local businesses.

Project objectives

  • Create safer, calmer streets for walking and riding.

  • Improve footpaths for better access for all ages and abilities.

  • Facilitate places to stop, rest and connect on streets and laneways.

  • Increase greenery and enhance the attractiveness and atmosphere of streets and laneways in Subiaco.

  • Ensure residents and visitors of all backgrounds feel welcome on Subiaco streets.
