This week, Subiaco Library welcomed author Lesa Melnyczuk for a Ukrainian Storytime within its Harmony Storytime series.
Aimed at children aged three to twelve, the session included a reading from Lesa's book 'Baba Stefka And The Magic Chook' in both Ukrainian and English, some songs, and the chance to get hands-on with Easter egg crafts and decorations.
Of the storytime, Lesa said, “I wanted children to enjoy a story from our Ukrainian history and culture but also have fun with the Ukrainian music and singing.
"They were able to experience Ukrainian colourful dress and something unique about Ukrainian Easter eggs.”
Subiaco Library’s Harmony Storytime sessions take place on the first Wednesday of each month, from 3.30pm to 4pm. Previous sessions have included stories in Noongar, Mandarin, and French, and the next session on Wednesday 3 May will be a Japanese Storytime.
