Subiaco Library is marking
Reconciliation Week by releasing a new early readers collection featuring educational materials created by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as part of the
Our Yarning collection.
Our Yarning is a literacy program aimed at promoting reading in a culturally relevant way through providing access to stories and reading material that reflects indigenous heritage and identity.
Children from all backgrounds are encouraged to engage with this new collection, as part of efforts to promote inclusion of Aboriginal voices and creatives in childhood education across Australia.
Subiaco Library will have colouring sheets and a display with the new readers supporting the Reconciliation Week theme –
Be a Voice for Generations – from Tuesday 30 May.
