City of Subiaco ratepayers will start receiving their rate notices by email or post in the next few days.
The issue date for the notices is 10 August 2023. If you’ve signed up for eRates you’ll receive an email, and hard copy notices will follow via the regular postal service.
Mayor David McMullen said, “We know everyone faces different economic pressures and nobody likes getting their annual rate notice, but the good news is that in the City of Subiaco this year’s rates increase has been kept at a low 1.9%.
“This is equal to last year; and it follows two previous years of 0%. There is no increase to the minimum rate, which is the fifth year in a row at this price.
“Every local government and its ratepayers face different cost pressures and community expectations. Our minimal rate rise, compared to other metropolitan councils, highlights the prudent financial management of staff and Council.
“In this ‘revaluation year’ (when the WA Valuer General re-assesses all metropolitan properties), a rates increase on many properties was – in real dollar terms – probably inevitable; although the rates on plenty of properties will actually decrease.”
To help you understand your rate notice when you receive it, we’ve put together some FAQs.
