Pedestrian-focussed urban space gets green light

Seddon Street is a step closer to being transformed into a contemporary urban space for the community after a Council decision this week.

The Public Realm Concept Design endorsed by Council aims to upgrade Seddon Street into a pedestrian orientated hub allowing it to be used for events and community activities.

This will be a significant upgrade to the current condition and amenity of Seddon Street, demonstrating Subiaco’s commitment in enhancing public spaces.

The concept design was informed by extensive consultation with nearby businesses and landowners, local residents, and the wider community.

Council’s approval of the concept design has been met with positivity from the community, including Dome Cafe’s Nigel Oakey who has promised to reopen the popular venue which closed in July if Seddon Street is revitalised.

One Subiaco’s developer, Blackburne Property Group, is required to make a financial contribution to the project as part a range of community benefits being provided.
