This year, the City of Subiaco local government election will be held on
Saturday 21 October.
Local government elections are a great way to get involved in your community, contribute to democracy and have a say on who will represent you in making decisions about local issues.
Councillors have a wide range of responsibilities including representing electors and residents in making decisions about community assets, infrastructure and services, allocation of resources and setting Council's policies.
If you’re considering putting yourself forward for election, you must nominate between Thursday 31 August and Thursday 7 September 2023. This year there are six vacancies.
To find out more about the election process and the expectations of Elected Members, potential candidates can participate in an online information session hosted by the Western Australian Electoral Commission at 6pm on Monday 14 August. Register
here.
Alternatively, you can attend an in-person session which will be held in the Banksia Room, Mount Claremont Community Centre, from 6pm on Thursday 17 August. To register, call Nicole Ceric, Executive Officer at the City of Nedlands, on 9273 3500 or email
nceric@nedlands.wa.gov.au.
There’s also still time to enrol to vote, but hurry! Enrolments close at 5pm on Friday 25 August. Visit
www.elections.wa.gov.au/oes to find out if you’re listed on the State Electoral Roll.
Postal votes will be distributed approximately four weeks out from election day.
More information on Council candidates is available on the City's website.
