R U OK? Day is an opportunity to check in with the people around you and encourages meaningful and, potentially lifesaving, connection.
This year it’s on Thursday 14 September and, to recognise the day and encourage conversation, Subiaco Library will be putting up a special display for the community.
It will include support information and items including posters, brochures, bookmarks and, very importantly, cookies.
Lords Recreation Centre will also be checking in with their members on R U Ok? Day.
It’s well known that exercise and socialisation help improve mental health outcomes which is why the Lords team have been working on a special surprise to help you get to the gym or a group fitness class with a friend.
Keep an eye on their Facebook and Instagram for more information on this soon.
About R U Ok?
R U OK? is a suicide prevention charity in Australia, encouraging all of us to notice the signs of mental health struggle in friends, family, and colleagues.
R U OK? Day is the charity’s national day of action to remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.
The website has a number of useful resources, including tips on how to ask R U Ok?.
