Have your say on the design ideas to help make some of our Shenton Park streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
As part of the Safe Active Street program, the City is seeking to create safer travel routes on its streets so that people of all ages and abilities feel more comfortable using them.
Evans Street, Excelsior Street and Keightley Road in Shenton Park were chosen to kick off the program in the City as they are popular cycle routes for local residents and school students.
Safe active streets have been shown to:
- increase weekday bike riding by 45-83 cyclists per day
- increase weekday pedestrian activity by 21-96 people per day
- reduce daily traffic volumes by 100-900 vehicles per day
- reduce the fastest traffic speeds by 6-9km per hour.
The City has two design options and would like community input before developing a final concept.
Head to the project page on Have Your Say Subiaco to take view the design options and provide feedback before 5pm Friday 11 February 2022.
Safe Active Street’s is a Department of Transport initiative, developed in partnership with local government. The City received funding from the department to undertake the feasibility study and produce concept designs for a proposed Safe Active Street project on Evans Street, Excelsior Street and Keightley Road.
