With fire season in the City almost here (1 November 2023 to 31 March 2024), it’s time to ensure your home doesn’t present a fire hazard.
Vegetation can become significantly dry during this period, exacerbating the threat of fire, so it’s important to ensure vegetation and gardens are managed.
Grass should be no greater than 5cm in length, trees and shrubs near structures should be appropriately pruned, and roofs and gutters need to be free of flammable material.
The burning of garden refuse is strictly prohibited within the City of Subiaco.
Under the Bush Fires Act 1954, the penalty for failing to comply with these requirements may be a fine of up to $5000. Infringements may also be issued.
