The City will be encouraging businesses to get in touch and give us their feedback after Council gave the green light to a new six-month campaign, Listening to Business (L2B).
At its Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 26 July, Council endorsed a recommendation from the City’s Economic and Business Development and Sustainability Committee (EBDSC) to implement the campaign which seeks to build on the existing work the City is doing to help support local businesses.
The EBDSC provides advice to Council on economic and business development and sustainability strategies, policies, initiatives and actions.
Elected Members and EBDSC members determined to strengthen their interaction with local businesses through a range of methods, including surveys, special events and additional communication to and about businesses in the community.
The City will also leverage existing business networks and partnerships with organisations such as the Western Suburbs Business Association as part of the L2B approach.
“Success and prosperity of our businesses is intimately linked with that of the broader community. Engagement with business is therefore one of our core responsibilities'” Mayor David McMullen said.
"Listening to business is not just something we do for a limited time. But the L2B Campaign will be a focussed combination of new initiatives, along with a consolidation of some things that have already proved effective in the past. For example, we will keep up the momentum generated at a very successful business engagement forum that we held on 20 July - which was attended by local entrepreneurs, business owners and managers.
"I'm personally pleased to have seen this initiative grow from an Elected Member Motion, that was finetuned at Committee level with input from staff, and has now been endorsed with the full support of Council. Council is very much signalling we are ready to listen.
"We will be using different ways to connect and hear directly about what local businesses have to say, so that we can all promote a vibrant economy for Subiaco.”
