The City of Subiaco launched its first dedicated arts, culture and design publication, titled ‘ARTFORM’, with an intimate event at the Orangery Gallery in Shenton Park.
The 90-page publication features stories behind newly commissioned works, including the 53-metre Princess Margaret Hospital Smokestack, and Six Seasons Bidi at Subiaco Oval, alongside human-interest pieces about local galleries and exhibiting artists.
City of Subiaco Mayor David McMullen said, “We are thrilled to unveil ARTFORM, a true statement piece that celebrates the richness of arts and culture in our City. This publication not only highlights our vibrant creative community but also sets the stage for many exciting projects to come.”
Approximately 100 guests, including profiled artists, attended the launch on Thursday 14 March and were given a preview of the publication.
The Orangery Gallery Director and former Western Australian Symphony Orchestra CEO Mark Coughlan also expressed his excitement for hosting the event.
"As a proud member of the Subiaco community, I am delighted to see the City putting a spotlight on arts and culture,” he said. “This publication not only celebrates our diverse arts scene but also highlights Subiaco’s distinct creative spirit.”
Guests were treated to live entertainment by talented West Australian Symphony Orchestra harpist, William Nichols and a sneak preview of the Orangery Gallery’s newest exhibition Players, Places: Reprised, Renewed by painter Susan Ecker, ahead of its official opening.
ARTFORM will be available in hard copy across Perth, within galleries, museums, local cafes and City of Subiaco venues, and available online at seesubiaco.com.au/artform.
