City continues to support local businesses

After a large number of businesses set-up shop in Subiaco late last year, the upward trend has continued into 2021 helping to bolster business confidence further and increase vibrancy in the town centre.

The City has welcomed a number of new businesses including gourmet hotdog specialists TopDog in Town; Mauritian bistro La Bouffe; Latin American eatery El Peruvian; and Bun Mi in Station Square serving up delicious Vietnamese food.

Popular patisserie, Louis Boeglin, also opened their first store after building up a solid fan base from their Subi Farmers Markets stand, and Otherside pop-up reopened due to popular demand.

La Vida Vegan opened a new bulk food section in their store, helping locals shop more sustainability; and Perth institution, Sound One, have just made the move to Subiaco, opening their new shopfront on Rokeby Road in the heart of the action.

The much-anticipated Your Local has opened its Rokeby Road doors this week.

As well as welcoming new businesses, the City continues to work hard to support existing businesses through the impacts of the pandemic and attract new investment, while showcasing what Subiaco has to offer to locals and potential visitors alike.

The City has been running unique and innovative programs such as its Business Resilience Program to help businesses get back on their feet after the pandemic; and Subiaco Connect to help entrepreneurs accelerate, scale-up and commercialise their business ideas.

“I want all budding entrepreneurs, start-ups and new business operators to know the City is here to welcome them and all existing businesses to know the City is here to help them thrive,” Subiaco Mayor Penny Taylor said.

“We value and support all in our ever expanding business community.”

During the pandemic, City officers worked diligently to help local businesses adhere to State Government COVID-19 restrictions to help look after the wellbeing of the community and ensure businesses can trade safely.
