In preparation for the transition to a three-bin FOGO (food organics, garden organics) waste service, the City will be introducing a bi-annual bulk green waste verge collection, with the first bulk green waste collection commencing on Monday 16 January.
There will be no limit to the quantity of loose green waste that can be presented for these collections. This bulk green waste collection is an additional service for larger piles, so green waste bags will not be included in this pick-up, but will continue to be collected as per the
City's normal green waste schedule. Loose green waste should be placed on verges by the evening of Sunday 15 January.
Once FOGO has been rolled out (in May 2023), green waste bags will no longer be picked up from residents' verges. Instead, residents will be able to place most of their green waste into their new FOGO bin, which will be collected weekly, keeping our City neat and tidy.
The City would like to make this process as smooth as possible, and are aware that extra bulk green waste collections will be required for prunings that don't fit into the new bin.
For this reason, the City is introducing a bi-annual bulk green waste collection. Along with this date in January, a second bulk green waste collection will commence on Monday 19 June.
Residents should have also recevied a green waste pass valid for 1m3 of green waste at the West Metro Recycling Cntre in Shenton Park. These were included in 2022/23 rates notices.
If you have any further inquiries about these green waste verge collection services*, email the City at waste@subiaco.wa.gov.au.
The City's FOGO service will commence in May 2023. This new three-bin service will allow our residents to divert green waste and food waste from landfill. This will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make a positive and lasting impact on our environment.
