For one week only, Subiaco Museum is throwing open its doors for a behind the scenes look at its extensive object collection – some of which haven’t been out of storage for years.
Museum Open Week is taking place from Wednesday 2 to Saturday 5 August and will showcase some of the items currently being photographed for the museum’s digital catalogue.
There will be hundreds of ‘new’ items on show for visitors to discover on top of the usual exhibition spaces, as well as special events taking place throughout the week.
These events will explore the history of photography and early motion picture films and include a family-friendly Saturday morning activity for the kids where they can make their own zoetrope and motion flick book.
Museum staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and give interesting insight into the world of museums, digital cataloguing, and the City’s local history.
Subiaco Museum is located at 239 Rokeby Road, Subiaco and is open additional hours for Museum Open Week only (9am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday).
