Programs for children

Your school holiday activities are sorted with the library, Lords and other venues in the City. For details about these activities, check out the City’s events calendar.

Subi Kids Crew (SKC) offers a unique opportunity for children to develop their sense of civic responsibility and leadership, teamwork and communication skills, while learning about local government and civic affairs. Members attend sessions once a term, covering sustainable gardening, junior ranger training, art workshops, selecting library books and more. Applications to join are open year-round. To be eligible, applicants must be aged between seven and 11 years and live or attend school in the City.

Storytime Join us for an interactive storytelling session designed for pre-schoolers, followed by craft, games and/or activities.
Suitable for children aged two to five. Storytime is held on Tuesdays at 10.30am and repeated on Fridays at 10.30am during the school term. During school holidays, sessions are held on Fridays only. No bookings required

Rhymetime Sing songs, share rhymes and stories with your baby to help them develop their early literacy and learning skills in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Rhyme time is held at Subiaco Library on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10am. During school holidays, sessions are held on Mondays only. No bookings required

Children's book club offers three book cub sessions.

Book Adventurers for kids aged six to eight years. Running the second Tuesday of the month from 3.30pm – 4.15pm.

Book Explorers for kids aged nine to eleven. Running the first Tuesday of the month from 3.30pm – 4.15pm.

Book Raiders for young people aged twelve to fifteen. Running the first Tuesday of the month from 4.30pm – 5.30pm.  
Members receive a ten per cent discount off book club reads at Dymocks Subiaco. To join, email library@subiaco.wa.gov.au.

Better Beginnings is an early literacy program coordinated by the State Library of Western Australia, promoting reading, rhyming, and talking to your baby. Residents will receive two book boxes over the years of 0 -5. The first one will be given by their health nurse before they’re one and the other pack can be collected from Subiaco Library between the age of 2 & 3. Each kit contains fantastic resources, recommendations and a free book gifted to you from the City of Subiaco.
