At its April meeting, Council acknowledged the valuable community feedback received during the community engagement period for the civic building and gardens project. This input will play an important role in shaping the next stage of the project.
Council asked staff to work with the appointed design team, led by Lyons, and cost planners to formulate and iterate design options that respond in detail key issues that emerged during community engagement.
Key themes highlighted through engagement included trees and green space, cost, amenities, heritage, and design.
A report will be provided at a future Council meeting to support further decision making, which will include a detailed business case, an updated design brief and a project management plan.
The community will continue to be kept informed as the project progresses, with further updates shared through the City’s website and other channels over the coming months.
