Following an
extension of the community engagement period to Friday 27 February, there is still plenty of time to have your say on the new civic building and gardens at 241 Rokeby Road.
Lyons, who were appointed as lead architect firm in May 2025 for the new civic building and gardens following a competitive tender process, have prepared a concept design which includes a community hub, festival lawn, flexible exhibition space, and more.

Following the Annual Electors Meeting in December 2025, City staff have responded to several new enquiries from the community, including:
- Has the City considered refurbishing the existing building?
- Has the City considered a more modest building design?
- How much of the building is allocated to staff accommodation, and how has the City considered hybrid work arrangements and future technological changes, such as AI, in determining space requirements?
- Are there risks with building on Crown land?
