The Forrest Walk Public Realm Upgrade is now complete and open to the public, marking the start of a new chapter for this much-loved space.
The project was designed to boost walkability, increase safety, and enhance community amenity and connectivity, in the area between Rokeby Road and Rowland Street.
The existing artwork in Forrest Walk was retained and new artwork was integrated into the space using three concrete seating plinths – by renowned artist Jahne Rees, working with indigenous consultant Sharyn Egan.
Subiaco Mayor David McMullen described the enhancements as part of a bigger picture.
“The Forrest Walk upgrade enhances a space which, some 30 years since its last refresh, had become tired and due for an update. Visit the new Forrest Walk and you'll see it's not only a vast aesthetic improvement; there's an enhanced sense of place that encourages people to spend some time, connect, and simply enjoy being in Subi,” he said.
“These comprehensive upgrades respond to community priorities, and they are part of a bigger picture suite of initiatives that are being driven by City of Subiaco to position our City as a welcoming and dynamic place to live, work and visit.
“The Forrest Walk upgrade complements the previously unveiled Postal Walk and Seddon Street precincts. We've also recently put finishing touches on artwork at a new mixed-use space at Rosalie Park. Rokeby South and a new pump track at Rosalie are on the horizon. And we will be thinking and planning City-wide, with the recent announcement of the Subi Streets project.”
