Forrest Walk upgrades set to begin

The much-anticipated renovations of Forrest Walk are set to commence this month.

This initiative marks another significant step towards enhancing community spaces and fostering a vibrant atmosphere within the City of Subiaco.

Following the successful renovation of Postal Walk and the Seddon Street precinct in 2023, the Forrest Walk upgrades will revitalise the area with repaved walkways, a new lighting scheme and the installation of three gardens enclosed by sculptural concrete plinths. The updates will also enhance alfresco dining spaces.

The renovations have been designed to create inviting spaces for social interaction, while improving accessibility and connectivity. Existing artwork within Forrest Walk is being retained and will be protected throughout construction.

Mayor David McMullen said upgrades to strategic nodes like Forrest Walk are good for the City.

"When we unveil the upgraded Forrest Walk, our aim is that it will become a hub for social interaction; a place where people will meet, linger, and enjoy Subiaco's charm," he said.

“The City knows that works of this scale can impact nearby businesses. I hope customers will keep coming during the works; and that once complete, the upgrades will benefit those same businesses many times over".

Works begin 20 May 2024 and are expected to be completed in September. Businesses will remain open during this time and pedestrian access will be maintained.
