The City of Subiaco has been named a finalist in two categories of the 2026 National Economic Development Awards for Excellence, recognising its work to attract visitors, support local businesses, and strengthen Subiaco’s economy.
The City is a finalist for:
Economic Development Marketing and Promotion – Subi Blooms: A Destination Showcase
Economic Development Excellence – Cities and Larger Regions – The Subi Advantage: Investing in Place, Growing the Economy
The awards attracted a record number of submissions from across Australia this year.
The first nomination recognises the destination marketing campaign behind Subi Blooms x Gather 2026, which transformed the town centre with large-scale floral installations from 8 to 10 May.
The campaign promoted Subiaco as a complete visitor destination, encouraging people to explore its local businesses, dining, accommodation, public art, and cultural attractions while following the floral trail.
The second nomination recognises the City’s broader, coordinated approach to economic development through The Subi Advantage.
This approach brings together investment in public places, destination events, industry partnerships, business engagement, and investment attraction. Initiatives include the Market Square Park upgrades, Rupert Street pocket park, Subi Greenwalks, Subi Blooms, Subi Night Market, and the City’s Subi Connect industry partnership program.
Together, these initiatives improve the experience of visiting and doing business in Subiaco, create opportunities for local businesses, and strengthen connections between entrepreneurs, investors, education providers, and industry organisations.
Winners will be announced at the National Economic Development Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner in Hobart on Wednesday 14 October.
