The City has partnered with local not-for-profit, Earthwise, to deliver a series of sustainability focussed workshops for the community this April and May.
On Saturday 5 April, join a hands-on, creative mending workshop to learn how to give new life to your well-loved clothes.
In this session, Tobi Beckley (i.have.a.stitch), will guide attendees through the basket darning technique and inspire you to mend and restore clothing to keep them going for years to come.
On Sunday 19 April, there will be a workshop exploring compost, worms and bokashi buckets so you can set up your own system at home.
On Saturday 10 May, join a hands-on workshop to learn everything about seed saving from selection and harvesting techniques through to how to process and store your seeds.
Explore why seed saving is important for a more sustainable garden and how it can save you money.
These events are free, but registration is required. To find out more or book visit the links below:
The City is also running a separate free workshop in partnership with Switch Your Thinking at Subiaco Library on Monday 7 April to help the community learn about the benefits of powering their home, appliances and vehicles with renewable electricity.
Planning Your Electrification Transition will help residents plan a smart and sustainable electrification transition over the next 5 to 10 years.
The City regularly runs workshops and information sessions across the year to help empower residents to live more sustainably, and also has a number of sustainability and environmental initiatives.
