Science Week sparks curiosity at Subiaco Library this August
National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, and this year, it’s taking place from Saturday 9 August to Sunday 17 August.
During the week, more than one million people participate in science-themed events across Australia.
To celebrate, Subiaco Library is set to host a series of exciting events aimed at kids aged 5 and up, plus a special adult talk that kids aged 12 and up can attend if accompanied by an adult.
Here’s an overview of what’s happening at the library for Science Week:
- Wonders of the Cosmos with Professor Danail Obreschkow, Monday 11 August from 6pm to 7.30pm. Danail is the Director of the UWA International Space Centre, and this talk will illuminate our place in the cosmos and explore recent discoveries, from interstellar comets to distant galaxies. Bookings essential.
- Decoding the Universe with Einsteins Australia, Tuesday 12 August from 4pm to 5pm. This fun afternoon session will encourage kids aged 7 and up to dive into the mysteries of the universe. Bookings essential.
- Marble Run and Magnet Tiles, Wednesday 13 August from 4pm to 5pm. Come along to make your own tile masterpiece and marble run in this fun afternoon session. Bookings essential.
