A brand-new mural has been unveiled in Subiaco celebrating the local school students, nature and the well-loved Subi Farmers Market.
Local artist Olive Cheng painted the bright and fun mural on the footpath outside Subi Primary School (on Bagot Road) with the support of the City and unveiled it just in time for the market’s 15th birthday.
Olive has a stall at the farmers markets each weekend and had the help of local school students in designing the bright new mural, titled Boots on the Ground.
The piece showcases a vibrant rainbow of fruits and vegetables, reflecting the market and the school’s commitment to promoting healthy eating. It also includes beautiful native flowers found throughout the school grounds.
It also promotes walking, riding and scooting to school and the markets which was another key theme that came up in Olive’s design workshops with the local Year 2 students.
The City has been supporting the iconic Subi Farmers Market for a number of years now to ensure it continues to thrive, supporting local producers and artisans as well as the local community.
Olive Cheng recently completed another colourful mural at Rosalie Park with the help of local students.
