Grants approved to help preserve Subiaco’s unique heritage

Ten grants for works at heritage properties were approved by Council this week as part of the City’s heritage grants program.

Heritage grants provide financial assistance to property owners for works in the public view that conserve and/or enhance the heritage significance of a place or area and for works to stabilise a building.

Heritage places are important for contributing to community identity, building civic pride and helping to define the unique character of an area.

The conservation and adaptation of heritage places also helps to avoid and/or reduce demolition waste, promoting more environmentally sustainable communities.

This most recent round of approved grants will contribute towards an array of works including repairing external brickwork, tuckpoint repairs, a new timber picket front fence, replacing gutters and downpipes in original profiles, conservation works for a damaged wooden verandah, and lead lighting to a front door and side windows.

The City appreciates the dedication of home owners who work to conserve and enhance their heritage properties.
