Subiaco’s newest pocket park is just around the corner, with construction at 203 Bagot Road set to commence in mid-spring 2025.

Following a decision at the March 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting, which included the demolition of the ageing Subiaco Community Centre and the construction of a pocket park on the site, the local community were consulted to help inform the design of the park in late 2024.

The design of the park aims to provide connection to nature; be safe, welcoming and accessible; celebrate Subiaco’s character, and provide an exemplar design for the future that is sustainable, shady and cool.

Features within the park design include a grassy area to sit, new seating, Australian native plantings, new trees and garden beds, a drink fountain, a bird watering station, and new pathways for the community to travel to it and through it.

Mayor David McMullen said, “Community engagement plays a vital part in any substantial project within our City. It was great to see so many people participate in either online or in-person survey opportunities for the pocket park in late 2024.

“As a result, the park design clearly represents our community’s priorities, helping the City to deliver a park that will be a welcoming and sustainable addition to our existing network of parks, gardens, and green spaces.”

Completion of the park is expected in summer 2025/26.

During the construction period, some areas along Bagot Road (including the southern footpath) may be impacted. Please follow directional signs throughout the area.
