Homelessness Week is held from Monday 3 August to Sunday 9 August 2026.
This year, the theme of the nationally recognised week is “Homelessness Action Now”, and to commemorate it, the City of Subiaco is co-hosting a Community Talk with RUAH Community Services at Subiaco Library on Monday 3 August from 6pm to 7.30pm.
The talk will explore the challenges of homelessness in our community, and opportunities to be part of the solution.
The event will also feature insights from Tiff, a Support Coordinator at RUAH, who will draw on her lived experience of homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health challenges. She will also challenge common misconceptions about what homelessness “looks like”, highlighting the hidden or often overlooked ways that people experience homelessness.
Of the upcoming event, Tiff said, “I hope people leave with the understanding that homelessness is not the end of someone’s story – it is one chapter in a person’s journey.
“I also hope people gain a greater appreciation of the complexity of homelessness and recognise the strength and resilience of those who have lived through it.”
Bookings for the event are essential.
During the week, the City’s regular homelessness support walk-in centre at The Third Place, run in partnership with The Salvation Army, will take place from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday 5 August.
To support Homelessness Week, this drop-in session will include a movie screening followed by a free lunch provided by Nandos Subiaco.

Mayor David McMullen said, “Homelessness Week is an opportunity to understand homelessness in its various forms, and to challenge misconceptions.
“This Homelessness Week, and all year round, the City of Subiaco continues to work collaboratively alongside organisations like RUAH Community Services and The Salvation Army, as well as WA Police and other service providers, to connect people with the support and services they need.”
