2026 Photographic Awards winners announced
The winners of the City of Subiaco’s 2026 Photographic Awards were announced at a special ceremony at Subiaco Library last night, with Kerry Faulkner taking out the top prize for Flex.
The winners of the 2026 Photographic Awards are:
Overall winner: Kerry Faulkner for Flex
Open category: Glenda Gore for Cottesloe Mermaids
Nature category: Alex Verhagen for Flight
People and portrait category: Madeleine Fogliani for Handlebars and Hard Landings
AI category: Edisson Suarez for Tiny Universe
Youth prize: Miley Jasper for Fallen in Light
Kids prize: Indigo Hardisty for Summer’s Sunset (my sister’s name is Summer)
Resident’s prize: Joseph Rae for Bodyslam
The highly commended entries were:
Open category: Joseph Rae for Bodyslam
Nature category: Donald Chin for Small Against the Sandstorm, and Milinda Nonis for A Dance of Light and Hunger
People and portrait category: Liv Maree for Mine to Bare
AI category: Cheng Ma for Museum of Lost Things
Youth prize: Keely Chan for Midnight Reverie
Kids prize: Eden Dismuke for Spin the Wheel
This year marked the first time the judging panel was made up entirely of Subiaco-based photographers. New judge Garry Sarre, who has more than 40 years of experience across advertising, fashion, commercial and portrait photography, joined Robert Frith and Stef King on the panel.
Mayor David McMullen congratulated all photographers who took part.
“The City’s Photographic Awards are a longstanding part of our cultural calendar, giving photographers of all ages and experience levels a platform to share their creativity and perspective.
“This year’s winning and highly commended works showcase a breadth of talent, from our youngest competition entrants through to experienced photographers.
“This year’s works were selected by a panel made up entirely of Subiaco-based photographers for the first time. I thank Garry, Robert, and Stef for sharing their expertise, and congratulate Kerry and all of this year’s award recipients," he said.
The 2026 Photographic Awards exhibition, featuring the finalists’ works, remains on display at Subiaco Library until Sunday 27 September.
Visitors are encouraged to view the exhibition and vote for their favourite photograph in the People’s Choice Award.
