Hair, beauty and tattoo businesses

All businesses operating within the City of Subiaco must be registered. Businesses wishing to perform hairdressing, beauty or skin penetration procedures, like tattooing or body piercing, require approval.

  • All hairdressing and beauty businesses (that are providing services that have skin penetration) must comply with the Health (Skin Penetration Procedure) Regulations 1998.

  • All body art and tattoo businesses must comply with the Health (Skin Penetration Procedure) Regulations 1998.

If you wish to offer complimentary drinks, you must complete a Food business registration form via My Account and pay a one-off notification fee.  For more information, please refer to the schedule of fees.

What you'll need to apply

Please have the following information ready to make your application:

  • Your business information including ACN or ABN

  • Plans to scale (1:50) indicating floor, wall and ceiling finishes, shelving, fittings, and other furniture within the premises

  • A list of all the procedures that will be undertaken on the premises

  • Details about cleaning, handwashing and laundry facilities

  • Information about staff facilities, waste disposal and ventilation types

  • Disinfection and sterilisation information

  • Mastercard or Visa card for any fees and charges (refer to the schedule of fees and charges).
