Community consultation for the Shenton Park Community Centre refurbishment was open from Monday 16 June to Monday 28 July 2025.
During this
consultation period, the community was invited to review the proposed concept design floor plan, read FAQs about the project, and fill out a short online survey to provide their feedback.
The project includes several upgrades to the community centre, which first opened in 1983, including refreshed kitchen facilities, improved accessibility, new hard and soft landscaping, and more.
51 people provided responses to the survey, and overarching feedback indicated the need for increased accessibility, internal facility upgrades (including lighting and temperature control), preservation of existing tree canopy, and more.
To ensure the highest quality outcome that best meets the needs of the centre’s current users, the project timeline has been adjusted to allow for more time to engage with existing user groups, delve into the intricacies of their feedback, and collaboratively refine the concept design, with the goal of comprehensively understanding all community input so it can be reflected in the final design.
Stay tuned for further information on the project.
