SVY to be heard on global stage
The City’s Subi Voice of Youth (SVY) recently got the opportunity to have their say on global issues that will be taken to the United Nations (UN) Annual General Assembly.
An Australian UN Youth representative is appointed each year to coordinate a nation-wide consultation tour to discover the issues that are most important to young Australians.
This year, the UN representative held a formal consultation with the SVY to discuss issues around education, climate change, mental health and financial security – to name a few.
The key findings of the consultation will contribute to achieving and implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
One SVY member said, “Meeting with the Youth UN Rep was a great experience because I learnt a lot from my fellow team members through the different topics that came up during the consultation.”
SVY is a group of motivated people aged 12-25 who are interested in issues facing young people in the local and broader community. SVY members develop knowledge and skills in leadership, communication, public speaking, team work and civic affairs. Learn more
