Subi Kids Crew take part in national book award judging
For the third year in a row, members of the Subi Kids Crew (SKC) took part in the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book of the Year judging program.
The program invites young people to read and discuss shortlisted books, and vote for their own winners using the same criteria as the award's adult judges.
It aims to foster a love of reading and critical thinking about literature among young people.
The book chosen as the group's favourite was
Aggie Flea Stels the Show by Tania Ingram, and was selected for its humour, pace, and heart.
SKC gives children aged 7 to 11 years an opportunity to learn about local government and develop their sense of civic responsibility, teamwork and communications skills. Sessions are held once a term and include activities such as sustainable gardening, junior ranger training, and art workshops.
