Subiaco’s streets will burst into bloom this Mother’s Day weekend as the Subi Blooms x Gather festival returns for its biggest year yet, bringing international floristry talent, large-scale installations and a glowing night-time experience.

Headlining the 2026 program is Bryce Heyworth, the founder and creative director of Sydney’s  September Studio, whose bold, sculptural floral designs and signature dance videos have captivated over 1.6 million Instagram followers worldwide.

Heyworth will collaborate with Perth floral studio Fox & Rabbit to create the festival’s opening installation when the Subi Blooms x Gather festival takes over Subiaco from Friday 8 May to Sunday 10 May 2026.

Now in its eighth year, the award-winning festival will transform the town centre into a vibrant open-air gallery of floral artistry, featuring 18 floral installations that will bloom throughout the streets of Subiaco.

Subi Blooms x Gather festival has quickly become one of Western Australia’s most celebrated cultural events, recently taking Gold at the Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards and Silver at the 2025 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Presented by the City of Subiaco and See Subiaco in partnership with Gather – A Floral Community, the 2026 festival will unfold under the theme Flora Aurora. Inspired by glowing skies and luminous landscapes, the concept will transform Subiaco into a radiant floral wonderland — introducing a blooms-by-night experience.

Along the floral trail, expect to see a cottage garden created using Australian natives, a laneway dressed in rainbow florals, a play of light and dark florals inspired by the sun and moon and walk beneath the dappled light of a forest canopy at Kannis Laneway.

City of Subiaco Mayor David McMullen said the festival’s continued growth reflects its rising profile as one of the state’s most loved cultural events.

“The Subi Blooms x Gather festival has become a highlight on the City’s events calendar, bringing tens of thousands of visitors to Subiaco to celebrate the creativity and colour of floral artistry throughout our iconic town centre,” he said.

With the support of Lotterywest and Festoon, installations along the trail will be illuminated after dark, allowing visitors to experience the festival from day through to evening as the artworks glow throughout the precinct.

The 2026 floral trail will begin at the Subiaco Oval Heritage Gates, where September Studio and Fox & Rabbit will unveil the festival’s opening installation. From there, visitors will follow a kaleidoscope-lit journey through the heart of Subiaco and up Rokeby Road to the Subiaco Library and Museum.

This year’s public art installation will be an immersive, inflatable landscape at Market Square Park by globally renowned artist Matthew Aberline with The Beautiful and Useful Studio. Titled The Light Within, this installation features a glowing garden of vibrant floral lanterns, which will be revealed ahead of the festival from 17th April to 10th May 2026. The artwork has previously captivated audiences in Singapore and received awards in Shenzhen, China.

Continuing a long-standing and much-loved tradition, leftover flowers from Subi Blooms x Gather festival will be repurposed into bouquets and hand-delivered to new and expectant mothers, as well as the dedicated staff at King Edward Memorial Hospital and St John of God Subiaco Hospital.

With world-class floral artists, immersive installations and an illuminated new festival experience, Subi Blooms x Gather festival 2026 is set to once again transform Subiaco into one of Australia’s most spectacular celebrations of floral creativity this Mother’s Day weekend.
