Sediment removal works at Mabel Talbot

Mabel Talbot_Jolimont_07
Mabel Talbot Lake is a treasured natural asset, providing vital habitat for local wildlife and a peaceful retreat for the community.

Over time, excess sediment from stormwater drains has accumulated in the lake, forming a large sediment island that is restricting water movement and affecting overall lake health.

To restore proper water flow and improve the lake’s ecological function, the City of Subiaco will be undertaking sediment removal works.

These works will involve carefully remove accumulated sediment, allowing water to move more efficiently through the lake system.

Proper water flow is essential to maintaining water quality, reducing stagnation, and preventing algal blooms.

Enhanced circulation will also benefit aquatic life, ensuring healthier conditions for native wildlife that call Mabel Talbot Lake home.

The works will be carried out with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment, and measures will be in place to protect local wildlife.

Some temporary changes to access around the lake are required once works commence.

We appreciate the community’s patience while these important improvements are completed.

The City remains committed to maintaining and enhancing our natural spaces, and this project is a crucial step in ensuring Mabel Talbot Lake continues to thrive for generations to come.
