The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) has now approved certain elements of the Rokeby Road South Local Development Plan (LDP). The LDP has since been published and is operational.
The LDP will coordinate future development of the southern end of Rokeby Road, considering development on private land and looking at building height, set back requirements, design standards and more.
The WAPC approved all the changes except two elements of the plan which relate to floor-to-ceiling heights for ground floor residential development and the requirement of a noise management plan.
Floor-to-ceiling heights will continue to be considered on a case-by-case basis to allow for adaptive reuse in the future and to ensure a consistent canopy for Rokeby Road. A noise management plan can be requested through the existing legislation and does not need approval from the WAPC.
The final green light for the plan comes after Council approved the LDP in March this year.
The plan was developed with extensive community input and aims to complement and enhance the special character that already exists in the area.
