Retail is making a big return to Rokeby Road with the City welcoming several new arrivals in this space in recent months.

While Subiaco’s well-publicised revival has primarily focussed on the exciting hospitality scene unfolding, savvy retailers have quietly been making Rokeby Road their new home – and thriving.

High-end boutique operators have spotted a gap in the market where consumers are after more quality pieces than the online fast fashion trend is providing.

Recently arrived retailers include:
  • Imagine That Lifestyle – a modern boho lifestyle concept store with the sustainable ethos that you only need to buy once if you buy well.
  • Mara Collective – a destination boutique for women after quality pieces that ageless, on trend and adaptable.
  • Chachi – a collection of carefully curated pieces by Australian designers that focus on sustainable fabrics and ethical sourcing so they can be part of your wardrobe forever.
  • Kivari – the latest store for this well-loved Australian fashion label that consciously create quality clothing utilising natural fibres and alternative manufacturing methods.
  • Motion Lifestyle – the boutique’s second location offering premium active clothing and footwear for women that is made to last.
  • Shondel Swimwear – consciously crafted slow-fashion resort and swimwear
Imagine That Lifestyle store owner Jacinda said the Subiaco store had opened to overwhelming support.

“Subiaco has that inner-city heartbeat, a unique energy and creative vibe unmatched by any other Perth suburb; it was the perfect fit,” she said.

Mayor David McMullen said it was great to see high-end retailers finding their new home in Subiaco.

“While many Perth precincts are popular for their food offerings, Rokeby Road combines food and retail in a way that makes for a true high street,” he said.

“We’ve got the great restaurants and lively bars; we’ve also got a wide range of unique retailers offering everything from sustainable slow fashion to books to jewellery. This is not big box retail; and there's a point of difference from the usual fast fashion and internet shopping.

“If you haven’t visited in a while, set aside a day to come and explore our City.”
