Pilates popping up across Subi
Four new Pilates studios have swung open their doors across the City of Subiaco in the past few months, signalling a boom of fitness and wellness classes and membership opportunities in the area.
Ditto Club, a heated mat and reformer Pilates studio on Townshend Road, opened up in early February with an aim to “strengthen, lengthen, and challenge” its members through smart and purposeful movement.
Co-founders Peter and Brittany Christie were inspired to open up in Subiaco because of its strong community connection and local feel.
“We always envisioned Ditto as intimate rather than intimidating, and Subiaco’s charming village feel aligns perfectly with that,” Brittany said.
“The response has been incredibly heartwarming – from day one, the community has really embraced us with open arms and we couldn’t feel luckier. We’ve had locals pop in just to introduce themselves, bring friends along, and share how much they enjoy being here, which means the world to us.”
Ditto Club’s classes span a range of fitness levels, abilities, and goals, and there are a variety of options on offer, including high-energy Pilates, interval-style workouts, and heated stretching classes.
“At Ditto, we believe you are what you continuously do. We don’t ask more than you’re capable of, but we will help you realise you’re capable of more than you think! Each class leaves you feeling grounded, empowered, and in control – ready to take on your day with strength and confidence,” Brittany said.
One suburb over,
Vesla Studio in Jolimont has seen a “deeply meaningful” reception from the local community, who have flocked to the space for its small-size Pilates, yoga and breathwork classes, as well as its sauna and cold plunge experiences.
Co-founder Erzhena Tsydenova opened Vesla with Lucas Wood in November 2025, and were inspired by the suburb of Jolimont for its unique location.
“Jolimont sits between the city and the coastline. People here move between demanding work and meaningful time with family and friends. We wanted Vesla to exist within that natural transition.
“Vesla was designed as a place you step into and immediately slow down,” Erzhena said.
Community response has been incredibly positive so far, and Vesla’s unique “nervous system reset” offering, which involves 45 minutes of intentional movement (Pilates, yoga, or breathwork) and 45 minutes of sauna and cold plunge, is very popular amongst Jolimont locals.
“Vesla was inspired by Nordic sauna culture, where heat and cold are part of everyday life. Our goal was to bring this philosophy to Perth in an honest and meaningful way,” she said.
“What stands out most is the community forming naturally. People arrive here as strangers and leave having shared something quiet and real.”
@pilates 24/7 Subiaco also opened its doors in November 2025, at 1/531 Hay Street, and offers on-demand Pilates classes, as well as Peloton bike access, and a range of facilities and amenities.
Studio owner Taylor Honiss said, “Subiaco is such a fantastic hub. Many of the industries based here operate outside the traditional 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday structure, and we saw an opportunity to offer something more flexible – we offer 24/7 Pilates and recovery access, alongside staffed hours for those who want additional guidance and support.
“We truly love being part of the Subiaco community and are excited to continue settling in and building connections locally. Our neighbours have been so supportive, and it genuinely feels like we’ve found the right fit within our area.”
The newest Pilates opening in Subi is
Sola Pilates, which opened its doors at 385 Rokeby Road in mid-February and offers more than 800 instructor-led virtual private Pilates classes, designed for maximum flexibility for clients.
Mayor David McMullen said, “It’s fantastic to see these new studios choose to call Subiaco home. They’re a welcome addition to our boutique fitness scene, and it’s wonderful to see the community so enthusiastically embracing what’s now right on their doorstep.”
