After being postponed last year due to the pandemic, the City of Subiaco’s Photographic Awards are once again being held to celebrate creativity in Subiaco and offer photographers a chance to showcase their original works.
Entries for the awards open Monday 8 February and are open to all photographers in the Perth metropolitan area aged six years and over.
There are three categories photographers can enter into: mobile phone, Subiaco and open, with additional accolades up for grabs including youth and kid awards and a People’s Choice Award.
Kay Cypher was the overall winner in 2019 for Flight (pictured below) and said the Subiaco Awards had been an annual event for her and her granddaughter for some years now.
“My granddaughter has won a couple of awards over the time, to her delight at beating her grandmother, so I was surprised and extremely thrilled to have been awarded the overall winner in 2019 awards,” she said.
“I am eager to enter the awards again after last year's break – with photos taken locally this time.”
Finalist’s photos will be exhibited at Subiaco Library from Saturday 1 May to Sunday 30 May, during which time the community can vote on their favourite for the People’s Choice Award.
The total prize pool for the Photographic Awards is more than $2500. Entries close 4pm, Sunday 7 March.
