Perth International Jazz Festival to bring world-class jazz to Subiaco this spring
From 18 October to 2 November, Subiaco is set to be transformed into a hub of lively jazz music, with opportunities to catch gigs at the Regal Theatre, Subi Night Market, and a few top-secret pop-up locations around Subiaco, as part of a partnership between See Subiaco and the Perth International Jazz Festival.
The
Subi Night Market is set to welcome a series of jazz musicians to its weekly market on Saturday evenings at Market Square Park.
First up at the market is the Steve Hensby Trio, offering a blend of funk, soul, and ska with a dash of folk, on Saturday 4 October. Victoria Newton will perform a Brazilian jazz set on Saturday 11 October, the Satchies Trio will pay homage to the great piano trios with swinging arrangements on Saturday 8 November, and award-winning songstress Shameem will play a set of infectious soul and jazz tunes on Saturday 15 November.
The market series will wrap up on Saturday 22 November with Jazz Tupi Trio, celebrating samba and modern jazz. All market jazz sets will take place from 6pm to 8pm on dates listed above.
Three internationally acclaimed acts are coming to the
Regal Theatre in the heart of Subiaco during the festival; Gregory Porter (sold out),
Samara Joy, and the
Bill Frisell Trio. Tickets are going fast for these performances.
There will also be two
pop-up jazz performances in Subiaco during the festival. Keep an eye on the
See Subiaco website for more details.
Mayor David McMullen said, “The Perth International Jazz Festival brings world-class talent to our corner of the world – and this partnership will bring vibrant music to our streets, the Regal Theatre and our weekly Subi Night Market.
“This year’s festival line-up offers something for everyone, and affirms the City’s commitment to investing in culture and the arts. If you’re a jazz fan coming to Subiaco for a gig, make a night of it and enjoy our great bars and restaurants while you’re here.”
See Subiaco is a City of Subiaco initiative.
