Subi Blooms x Gather festival, which takes over the Subiaco town centre this Mother’s Day weekend from Friday 8 May to Sunday 10 May, will feature 15 large-scale floral installations – one of which belongs to Subiaco’s newest florists.
Sarah Joubert and Shaneka Joseph, owners of Bloom Store Subi at 329 Rokeby Road, took over the shopfront in December 2025 and have hit the ground running ever since.
When it came to getting involved in Subi Blooms for 2026, Sarah and Shaneka jumped at the opportunity.
“We have attended previous Subi Bloom festivals as spectators, and have always been in awe of the beautiful creations our fellow Perth florists have come up with – so when we moved into Subi, we definitely knew we had to jump at the chance to get our name out there and show the community who we are!”, Sarah and Shaneka said.
“We have loved getting to know all the locals and the feedback from the community has been really great. We’ve been busy rebranding, renovating, and building a brand-new website, so we’ve had a lot of late nights but it has been so worth it, and we’re incredibly grateful that we get to do it.”
The Bloom Store Subi Blooms x Gather installation is called ‘Rainbow Lane’, and will be located in Walmsley Lane. The installation is presented by Bar Amelie, a modern-Australian restaurant sitting just beside the laneway on Rokeby Road.
Alongside the festival, Bloom Store is gearing up for a busy Mother’s Day weekend of bouquet creation and flower pick-ups.
“The two main colour palettes in our Mother’s Day collection have been really popular – Apricot Pop is fun and colourful, and then Blush and Buttercream is a more toned down mix of natives and fresh flowers,” Sarah and Shaneka said.
“If you’re already sorted for Mother’s Day, still come and check out how the shop has transformed – we’re pretty proud of what we’ve been able to achieve in the 5 months since taking over!”
The 2026 Subi Blooms x Gather floral trail will begin at the Subiaco Oval Heritage Gates and wind its way up Rokeby Road to the Subiaco Library and Museum, where families can enjoy a weekend of free arts and crafts at the Lotterywest Community Hub.
This year’s public art installation as part of the festival, ‘The Light Within’ by Matthew Aberline, features a glowing garden of vibrant floral lanterns in Market Square Park. The installation is inspired by the theme of this year’s festival, “Floral Aurora”, which will see the trail illuminated in a special ‘blooms by night’ experience as the sun goes down.
Mayor David McMullen said, “The Subi Blooms x Gather festival has become a highlight on the City’s events calendar, bringing tens of thousands of visitors to Subiaco to celebrate the creativity and colour of floral artistry throughout our iconic town centre.”
Subi Blooms x Gather is presented by See Subiaco, a City of Subiaco initiative.
