Two Subiaco legends have been honoured with the selection of their names for road reserves to be created as part of the
Subi East redevelopment.
Chugg Road and Collard Road will honour late Subiaco residents Adelaide Chugg and Cyril Collard respectively.
Miss Chugg was the founding Vice-President and later Patron of the Subiaco Historical Society. She gave generously during her life to the Subiaco Museum, and her bequest at her death in 1981 to the Museum made the interior refurbishment and new displays possible.
Mr Collard was a Noongar community member who played 30 games for Subiaco in 1954-1955. In 1957 he became the first Noongar person to play in the Victorian Football League (now the AFL) when he played for Hawthorn from 1957-1958.
Following an elected member amendment, a small, explanatory sign detailing the importance of each of the street names will be added after installation.
The selection of road names is made in accordance with the government of Western Australia’s Landgate
Policies and Standards for Geographical Naming in Western Australia.
