New EV chargers coming
Eleven new electric vehicle (EV) chargers are getting installed for community use to support the adoption of EVs, aligning with the City’s commitment to creating a more sustainable place to live, work and visit.
The chargers are being installed across Lords Recreation Centre and Rowland Street Car Station, with more locations to come in the new year.
The new infrastructure includes charging stations, integration with renewable energy sources and the implementation of smart grid technology to ensure efficient and sustainable energy use.
The chargers at Lords and Rowland Street carpark are expected to be operational in the new year.
The City is currently in the process of updating its Transport, Access and Parking Strategy (TAPS) which will capture a strategic approach to implementing additional EV charging infrastructure in future.
Additionally, the City provides free parking in its carparks and streets every evening after 5pm, and all weekend long.
This initiative has been partially funded by
WALGA’s ARENA Future Fuels Program.
